  • Learnings from delivering climate change communication training, presented by Hannah Mallinson

The Royal Meteorological Society has been delivering climate change communication training to a range of stakeholders for over 7 years, including broadcast meteorologists, journalists, PR and comms professionals, horticulturists, religious leaders, and local government officials. In this talk, Hannah will provide a brief refresher on the facts of climate change, give an overview of the content RMetS' cover in their training, learnings from delivering training to various stakeholders over the years and how the conversation has changed.

  • An introduction to ‘Communicating Climate’, presented by Valerie Leisten

As the consequences of not addressing climate change become more apparent, so does the urgent need for more effective and nuanced communication. Now in its fourth year, Media Trust’s Communicating Climate programme is specifically designed to support charities working on climate and environmental issues to better engage their audiences and influence meaningful change. In this talk, Valerie will share insights into why effective climate communication is so important and share tips in key areas of strategic communications including framing, campaigning and storytelling.

These sessions are designed for staff and members of professional bodies who are looking to hear from their peers in the sector on key areas of concern related to climate action and sustainability, and be given a chance to discuss topical issues in an informal setting.
