He has over 20 years of experience in interdisciplinary materials and catalysis research, with expertise spanning hydrothermal synthesis of inorganic perovskites, plasma deposition of materials, and photo- and electrochemistry. His current research focuses on the electrochemical transformation of organic compounds and CO2 capture and utilization, for which he was invited as a delegate to the World Class Indonesian Diaspora Scientists in 2019. His work has been published in over 85 publications in top-tier international journals with >12,000 citations. He has been recognized as a top 2% cited scientist from 2020 to 2025. He has been a member of the editorial board of Environmental Science and Technology since 2025. Most recently, he was awarded the Fellowship of IOM3 in 2026.
  • Dr Barry Twomey MIMMM
Dr Twomey has a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and completed his PhD in 2009 in the field of Surface Engineering from the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, UCD, Dublin, Ireland. During his career, he has worked with a range of new and emerging technologies across multiple industry sectors, covering medical device and aerospace sectors as well as professional training and upskilling. His experience and interest are broadly in surface science and material analysis, and this is reflected in his publications and history as a reviewer for a number of journals. As a Professional Member of the IOM3 since 2022, he hopes his experience can be of benefit to the SPC (Scholarly Publications Committee) over the coming year and beyond.
  • Dr Yu Dong FIMMM
