Materials, Minerals & Mining for People, Places, Planet: IOM3 flagship event
Our flagship event will take place between 11-12 November in Birmingham.
M3P3 brings together our 22 technical groups on one stage to celebrate our member network and drive sustainable transformations across the materials, minerals and mining industries. The event focuses on inspiration, collaboration, connection and professional development, where you get to be part of something new.
M3P3 is built on collaboration. We aim to shape the future of materials, minerals and mining by driving change across industry, policy, skills and society. We’re partnering with organisations, research institutions and industry leaders to deliver practical solutions and new insights.
The event will inspire new ideas by bringing together sector leaders, policymakers and innovators to discuss key topics, such as the UK’s Industrial Strategy and circular economy solutions. Public engagement activities, including the IOM3 SECC Art Lecture and STEM outreach, will introduce the next generation to careers in these fields.

As part of the event, plenary sessions will be held simultaneously on industrial strategy, circular economy, the UK skills landscape and (critical) materials strategy, with the following speakers in attendance.
Industrial Strategy
- Charles Hendry HonFIMMM
- Jon Bolton FIMMM
Circular Economy
- Libby Peake, Senior Fellow and Head of Resource Policy, Green Alliance
- Mark Miodownik, Professor of Materials & Society, University College London
- Iain Gulland, Chief Executive, Zero Waste Scotland
UK Skills Landscape
- Pat Foster, Head of School, Cambourne School of Mines
- Hilary Leevers, Chief Executive Officer, Engineering UK
Materials Strategy
- Gavin Mudd, Director, Critical Minerals Intelligence Centre
- Philippa Glover, Director, Foundation Industries Sustainability Consortium (FISC)
- Jo Bray OBE, Director, Advanced Manufacturing, Department for Business and Trade
IOM3 CEO Dr Colin Church CEnv FIMMM says, 'At IOM3, we know that our industries don’t exist in isolation. The choices we make today about materials, digital transformation, supply chains and sustainability impact not just our work, but also people’s lives, the places we live and the health of our planet. M3P3 is an opportunity to explore these themes through thought-provoking discussions, knowledge exchange, expert panels and interactive networking.'
The event will be held on 11-12 November at Millennium Point, Birmingham.
We’re excited to partner with a wide range of exhibitors, roundtables and event partners who are leading the way in innovation, sustainability and positive change across the materials, minerals and mining sectors.
