IOM3 appoints new Honorary Treasurer

IOM3 is pleased to announce it has appointed a new Honorary Treasurer, Vikas Mawkin MIMMM for an initial four-year term of office.

Vikas has a wealth of financial management experience in senior roles in global companies where his responsibilities include leading financial and Treasury strategy, working with auditors on financial reporting in-line with international reporting standards, advising commercial financing transactions and managing global teams. He is also a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA), a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) and has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of London. 

IOM3 President Professor Serena Best CBE FREng CEng FIMMM, says, ‘We are extremely pleased that Vikas has taken on the role – this is a very important appointment for IOM3 and we look forward to working closely with him from the beginning of 2021.’ 

Vikas spoke of his appointment stating, ‘I am delighted to be joining IOM3 as Honorary Treasurer and I look forward to working with Colin and the Board of Trustees at an exciting time for IOM3 – building on past successes and promoting the many ways the materials, mining and minerals communities are leading the way to meet energy and climate change challenges.’ 

Vikas will take over from Dr Mick May on 1 January 2021. Julija Bugajeva, IOM3 Director of Finance, says, ‘We would very much like to thank Dr May for all his contribution to IOM3 over the last 12 years and wish him a very happy retirement. His commitment to and support of IOM3 were unparalleled and he will be greatly missed by IOM3 team and volunteers.'
