First heavy rare-earths production at Lynas Malaysia
Lynas Rare Earths claims to be the only commercial producer to have separated heavy rare-earth products outside China.
Lynas Rare Earths Ltd has confirmed its first production of dysprosium oxide at Lynas Malaysia.
The new heavy rare-earth separation circuit was commissioned during the March quarter, with the first production of dysprosium oxide expected in May, followed by terbium in June, as announced in its March 2025 Quarterly Report.
'The production of this on-spec dysprosium oxide is a significant step for supply chain resilience and provides customers with the option of sourcing product from an outside China supplier. Lynas is now the world’s only commercial producer of separated Heavy Rare Earth products outside China,' says chief executive Amanda Lacaze.
The firm said it expected pricing to reflect high demand for rare-earths sourced from outside China.
