Carbon fibre development facility to open in North-West England
The open access facility will house two digitally enabled development lines for manufacturing carbon fibre.

The National Composites Centre (NCC) confirmed its location at Cygnet Texkimp’s site in Northwich, Cheshire West.
Cygnet Texkimp is a technology partner of the NCC, and the site is also receiving funding from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
According to Richard Oldfield, CEO of the NCC, the site is ‘strategically located’ facilitating collaboration between the North West’s chemical and materials clusters, the West of England’s advanced engineering capabilities, and the North of England’s textile manufacturing hub.
Initial testing is scheduled for Autumn 2025 with plans to be fully operational in Spring 2026.
