The Armourers & Brasiers’ Company (a livery company in the City of London) runs an annual venture capital funding competition as a two stage process. Stage one is to complete the online application form which is structured as a simple business plan and explores the quality of the scientific innovation and the commercial potential of the project. No commercially sensitive information is required.

Shortlisted applicants are then invited to give a presentation to the Venture Prize Committee in May. The winner is announced at the Armourers & Brasiers Cambridge Forum in June.

The prize is given as a £25,000 convertible loan or equity investment into a startup company.

The prize was established in 2008 to provide seedcorn investment to support the commercialisation of innovative research in materials science and technology. The application must be on behalf of a project and a project team that are based in the UK.

The deadline for receipt of entries is 21 March 2021.
