Second seminar on Decarbonisation for the Steel Industry

Decarbonisation is an important topic for the steel industry as we move towards a low-carbon future. 

The event, introduced by Professor Philip Baker Pro Vice Chancellor for Reseach & Enterprise at the University of Leicester and chaired by Professor Hongbiao Dong, Director of the NISCO UK Research Centre at the University of Leicester, will feature three presentations:

  • "The role of science in decarbonising the UK's manufacturing and steel industry", Professor Paul Monks, Chief Scientific Advisor, BEIS

  • "SSAB's transformation to fossil-free steel with HYBRIT technology", Dr Martin Pei, Executive Vice-President and CTO at SSAB

  • "Solutions and paths to decarbonising steelmaking", Dr Joachim von Scheele, Global Director Commercialisation, Linde Technology, Linde PLC
