Matthew is the Oppenheimer Research Fellow in the Electronic Devices and Materials group and the Cambridge Graphene Centre, at the Department of Engineering, Cambridge University.
His research focuses on the heterogenous integration of chemical vapour deposited aligned nanomaterials in nanoscale vacuum power electronic devices. He is a Fellow of St Edmund's College, Cambridge, where he is Director of Studies in Engineering and Admissions Tutor.
Matthew gained an MEng in Engineering Sciences from Oxford University and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Cambridge University, and has spent time as a visiting scholar at Harvard University, and as a research associate at Sharp Laboratories of Europe. In 2015, he was awarded the IOM3 Silver Medal, the Institute of Engineering and Technology Sir Royce Medal and the Royal Academy of Engineering Sir MacFarlane Medal. In 2016, he was named in the Forbes 30 under 30 Europe: Science and healthcare list.
