Dr Sam Cruchley

Sam is currently a lecturer in the School of Metallurgy and Materials at the University of Birmingham. His expertise lies in the mechanical properties and oxidation of high performance metallic alloys in range of environments, including high temperature and pressure water. This includes metallic alloys produced using advanced techniques such as SLM and HIP. As part of his role, he also has a number of teaching responsibilities and has completed a Post Graduate Certification in Higher Education.

He has completed a PhD in high temperature oxidation of Ni-based superalloys and the role of oxidation in fatigue crack initiation, and has worked for both Rolls-Royce and the National Nuclear Laboratory.
