The IOM3 Women in Materials Group is organising a spring seminar on careers, mentoring and networking.

The programme for the afternoon is as follows:

12.30 p.m. – Lunch

1.15 p.m. – Introductions / Welcome

1.20 p.m. – Sarah Boad – IOM3 Membership / Mentoring

1.40 p.m. – Industrial Case Study – Dee Harris, Jaguar Land Rover

2.00 p.m. – Industrial Case study – Louise Gale, Rolls-Royce plc

2.20 p.m. – Academic Case Study – Amy Gandy, University of Sheffield

2.40 p.m. – Academic Case Study – Emma Kendrick, University of Birmingham

3.00 p.m. – Tea break – Networking

3.30 p.m.    Film and panel discussion chaired by Dr Tzany Kokalova Wheldon An author and scientist called Nathalia Holt ( see http://www.nathaliaholt.com/  ) who has written a book entitled, “Rise of the Rocket Girls” – - the inspirational woman, all scientists and engineers, who laid some of the foundations for what is now NASA. Their contributions, mostly untold, were made from the 1940’s onwards to USA military and space research – early rocket flight would not have been possible without the calculations they did at places like the Jet Propulsion Lab.

4.30 p.m.  Concluding remarks and finish

All are welcome, men and women, members and non-members.
