BRECC Conference to hear that Mining could move into the Circular Economy driving seat
At the upcoming Balancing Resources with Climate Change Conference on November 26th in London, Dr Walter Stahel, Co-founder of The Product-Life Institute, will deliver his keynote speech entitled A Circular Industrial Economy - A Giant Opportunity and Challenge to the Mining and Materials Industries.
Dr Stahel states that the objective of a circular economy is to maintain the value of stocks of objects and materials for as long as possible. A longer service-life of objects means a reduced demand for materials and goods production.
At first sight, a circular economy will therefore impact negatively the Mining and Material sector. However, a second look at novel strategies and business models of the circular industrial economy shows that revenues from mining would not suffer and mining could even move into the driver seat of the economy
