9 Jun 2017

The 2017 Starpack Student and Schools Awards have been named. A ceremony will be held in London on 28 June 2017 to celebrate award winners.

Pupils from a wide range of courses, some with a graphics emphasis and others with product design experience, as well as those from materials courses, were challenged to deliver solutions to problems set by brand-leading fast moving consumer goods companies, design agencies, and manufacturers.

New product designs were submitted for a range of briefs, including transit packaging, disaster relief packs, creative fruit storage and space meals in a can.

The judging panel, made up of seasoned packaging professionals and technical experts, were impressed with the creative flair and innovation shown by the competitors this year.

Among those celebrating are Reigate School of Art at East Surrey College, Bungay High School, Queen Elizabeth’s School and Wimbledon High School, who have come away with some of the top awards.

William Boyd, Director and Chief Executive of the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association and sponsor of the Starpack Awards, said, ‘Congratulations to all our metal packaging winners but especially our two top Gold and Sponsor Award winners who both went on to take the coveted ‘Best in Show’ awards – a fantastic achievement across a highly competitive field.’
