The second afternoon of the international conference on adhesion and adhesives - Euradh 2008/Adhesion '08 - was devoted to a large Poster session.  Nearly 50 Posters, presented by authors from all over Erope as well as from America and Japan, covered all aspects of the field of Adhesion and Adhesives: Advances in adhesive materials; Aspects of fundamental adhesion; Bio-inspired, biological and medical aspects of adhesion; Durability and fatigue; Engineering aspects of adhesion and engineering applications; Industrial aspects; Innovative designs and applications; Interphase formation and properties; Nano-particles and super-molecules in adhesives; Practical adhesion and mechanics; Quality procedures, testing and standardisation and Science and technology of surfaces.

The judges commented that the standard of both the work and the presentations was very high and were hard-pressed to determine the winner. However, they eventually did come to a decision and awarded the Student Poster Prize for a paper on micro-extensometry by a team from Universität Kaiserslautern and Universität Erlangen-Nüremberg in Germany.

The authors are:  PL Geiß, M Presser, M Kopnarski, A Brodyanski, S Passlack, G Possart and P Steinmann and the paper is entitled: 'Investigation of the epoxy-metal interphase by micro-extensometry'.

The three students - Melanie Presser, Gunnar Possart and Sven Passlack - will recieve Student Memberships of the Institute of Materials. Minerals and Mining which will run until the end of 2009.
