Site Visit to Clwyd Compounders
Organised by the IOM3 Rubber in Engineering Group
This RIEG event included a tour of the new compounding facilites at Clwyd Compounders Ltd. The 25 visitors were very grateful to Ian Haywood and his team for hosting the event.
During the tour we saw:
Several Banbury internal mixers for compound production as well as several rubber mills for mixing and compound finishing.
The clean rooms for compounding silicones, and perfluoroelastomers.
The process laboratory with a range of facilities for measuring the processing of the uncured compound. There were also extensive faciliites for measuring mechanical properties, heat, liquid, corrosion and ozone resistance as well as low temperature capabilities of cured compounds.
