IOM3 is embracing an open and transparent approach to publishing materials science research though its partnership with publisher Taylor & Francis. This is part of our commitment to open access opportunities at all career levels.
The Materials Open Research publishing platform makes use of the Taylor & Francis open research publishing arm, F1000, extending the publishing partnership that has existed between IOM3 and Taylor & Francis since 2017. IOM3 joined the platform as the first affiliate partner in 2021.
The platform enables all research outputs to be published open access, free for anyone, anywhere, to read, and combines the benefits of pre-printing with mechanisms to assure quality and transparency. These include invited and open peer review, article versioning, archiving and indexing.
As well as research articles, Materials Open Research features a variety of article types including method articles, study protocols, software tools, systematic reviews, data notes, brief reports, and opinion articles. The platform also provides the option to publish non-peer reviewed materials including technical reports, training materials, posters, slides, and other documents.
