The IOM3 Polymer Processing and Engineering Committee again held the biennial international polymer process engineering conference at Bradford, 6-7 December 2011, in conjunction with the UK Polymer IRC.

Around 100 attendees enjoyed high level presentations, a commercial exhibition and leading edge demonstrations in the Polymer IRC laboratories at Bradford University, which hosts 3 major research and knowledge transfer centres supporting this event, namely the Advanced Materials Engineering RKT Centre, the Polymer Micro & Nano Technology RKT Centre and the Pharmaceutical Engineering Science RKT Centre.

The conference aims to provide a timely forum for presentation & discussion of key developments in engineering excellence in polymer processing and cover leading edge developments in polymer processing technology, in-process measurements and process flow modelling, and control. This year, this was amply achieved with four ‘hot topic’ themes:

  • Resource Efficiency
  • Healthcare Technology
  • Polymer Micro and Nano Technology
  • Science to Commercialisation.
