IOM3 update on COVID-19
The Prime Minister unveiled strict measures on 23 March 2020 to help tackle the spread of COVID-19 stating that, ‘people should leave home only to exercise once a day, travel to and from work where "absolutely necessary", shop for essential items and to fulfil any medical or care needs.
In line with Government recommendations, since the 16 March 2020, the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) offices are closed and teams are now working from home. Any meetings will take place virtually for the foreseeable future. This will include any board or technical community meetings due to take place.
The Institute will continue to monitor and act on advice from the UK Government regarding precautions on Covid-19 and provide updates as and when the situation changes. The health and safety of our members, clients, delegates, speakers, exhibitors and employees is our top priority. We have therefore already announced the postponement of PVC2020, Rolls 6, the UK Young Persons' Lecture Competiton Final and a range of our training and other events.
We will continue to monitor the situation very closely and will follow up with further information.
A reminder that during these difficult times, the Member's Benevolent Trust exists to support and provide assistance to a person in need who is, or has been for more than two years, a member of IOM3.
IOM3 remains operational and you can still contact our team via telephone and email, but please bear with us if our response is sometimes slower than usual.
Please note, our Library will be closed until further notice. This is for the health and safety of our members and team. We may still be able to assist so do ask.
Should you wish to rearrange a board or technical community meeting, please contact David.Arthur@iom3.org
