The first phase of the IOM3 digital transformation project was launched at the end of January, consisting of a fully functioning membership management system and new Member Portal that allows members to update their details, select their technical and communications preferences, pay subscription fees, download invoices for past payments and access all our online Member Benefits, as well as providing online joining for new members.

Phase 2 of the project is now well under way. This involves incorporating activities that are currently administered on separate systems (such as events, training courses, awards, competitions, accreditation, sales, marketing and communications) into the new contacts management system. The specification for this new functionality has now been signed off and development work will take place over the next few months, with the new systems planned to be up and running by the autumn. Phase 2 also involves the launch of a brand new website later in the year and we have been reviewing our current website content and making plans for the new site over the past few months.

Our existing site has over 25,000 pages and a strategy has been agreed to launch the new site with only the most up to date and current content, while retaining an archive of past and static content, to allow the new site to be developed more quickly and cost-effectively.

In tandem with the digital transformation project, over the past few months our design team has led a major project to overhaul the Institute’s visual identity. We sought input and feedback from members in the Member Survey, from our young members, Advisory Council and the IOM3 team. Out of six initial proposals, two quite different designs were in the running and with some final adjustments following feedback from those listed previously, the Institute’s Trustees agreed the final design at the beginning of June. The new visual identity will be launched with the new website in the autumn and we look forward with excitement to revealing our new look.
