IOM3 exhibits at MRE 2020
IOM3 attended and exhibited at MRE 2020 on 19–20 February 2020 at the Business Design Centre in London. The IOM3 team promoted membership benefits with an exclusive discount for new joining members, training courses and upcoming events and activities.
President Professor Serena Best presented three poster prizes to postgraduate students at Nottingham and Sheffield University sponsored by IOM3.
Speaking about the event, Serena said, ‘As a major UK science and engineering institution, IOM3 is delighted with the success of MRE 2020, this was a big event on the calendar and we are proud to be co-sponsors of the awards that were presented at the meeting. It was particularly encouraging to see such a vast array of exhibitors and delegates in the materials field, exchanging and sharing research and knowledge.’
Opening the student presentations, Simon Edwards Deputy Executive Chair of Innovate UK, said, ‘The people involved in materials are going to be at the forefront of delivering solutions to addressing some of the problems society faces such as climate change and plastics pollution. Materials contributes to every part of the UK.’
With Sue Dunkerton OBE, Director of KTN also highlighting the importance of championing diversity within the materials section saying, ‘We really need to champion diversity, bringing people together to tackle some of the challenges we are facing in society today.’
