Opening keynote speaker announced for Rolls 6 2020
Frank Pearson, Whemco Inc, USA, has been announced as the opening keynote speaker for the 2020 Rolls 6 conference on ‘The Roll Business...an Industry in Crisis?.’
Frank Pearson IV is VP, Sales & Marketing for WHEMCO, Inc responsible for all cast and forged products sales worldwide. Frank graduated in Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston, before starting a career in the steel industry in various rolling mills – plate mills, hot mills and cold mills eventually moving from roll users to roll makers. After 23+ years with Union Electric Steel, Frank chose in 2013 for a new challenge and joined the Whemco Group of Companies. In January 2019, upon the retirement of Mr Al Beeken – the closing address keynote speaker at the 2015 Rolls 5 conference – Frank was promoted to VP, Sales & Marketing for WHEMCO, Inc. Frank has been a member of Association for Iron & Steel Technology for more than 23 years, and has combined experiences in the steel rolling and roll-making industries of 40+ years.
Following the success of the five previous conferences on rolling mill rolls for metals processing, the sixth roll conference Rolls 6 (2020) will be organised over three days 3–6 June 2020 in London at One Great George Street.
Rolls 6 will cover all major themes of rolling mill rolls for metal processing. In-depth scientific and technical papers will be interlaced with lectures on business trends and developments in the rolls and metal rolling industries, an experts’ panel discussion and a concurrent exhibition. This is a must-attend event that will help with the understanding and satisfying user demands – looking at limits and new solutions for rolls in increasingly powerful mills and new mill designs, to enable hot and cold rolling of the most challenging novel materials.
‘Rolls 6 will be the best opportunity to learn more about new trends in roll development and rolling technology, the place to be to meet a nice concentrate of know how related to rolls,’ said Mario Sinnaeve, R&D and Quality Control Manager at Marichal Ketin working on several roll developments for the last 30 years.
So who should attend? Anyone from rolls users and manufacturers to mill builders, managers, quality control or steel and non-ferrous metal research institutes.
Registration will open in January 2020 and full programme to follow in February. For more information, visit www.rolls6.org
