Professor C Issac Garcia, Ferrous Physical Metallurgy Group at the MEMS Department, University of Pittsburgh, USA, has been announced as the opening keynote speaker at the 2020 Rolls6 Conference.

Following the success of the five previous conferences on rolling mill rolls for metals processing, the sixth roll conference Rolls6 (2020) will be organised over three days 3–6 June 2020 in London at One Great George Street.

Professor C Issac Garcia research includes the optimisation of the performance of advanced high strength steels and other engineering alloying systems. His work on the alloy design, thermomechanical processing and transformation behaviour of AHSS providing a challenge and opportunity to the design-processing performance of modern steels. Garcia was awarded the AIST 2014, 2015 and 2016 Rolls Technology Award for Best Paper and has lectured on his work around the world as well as authored and co-authored more than 450 publications and book chapters.

Rolls 6 will cover all major themes of rolling mill rolls for metal processing. In-depth scientific and technical papers will be interlaced with lectures on business trends and developments in the rolls and metal rolling industries, an experts’ panel discussion and a concurrent exhibition. This is a must-attend event that will help with the understanding and satisfying user demands – looking at limits and new solutions for rolls in increasingly powerful mills and new mill designs, to enable hot and cold rolling of the most challenging novel materials.

‘Being involved in the roll business for almost 40 years this is the conference you do not want to miss. Not only for being informed about the new trends in the steel and rolling industry but also to interact with people from all around the world,’ said Sir Thomas Nylen, Senior Technical Consultant at ESW working for around 40 years the roll industry.

So who should attend? Anyone from rolls users and manufacturers to mill builders, managers, quality control or steel and non-ferrous metal research institutes.
