For three days in London, IRC2019 will focus on technical advances in the global rubber market through over 160 talks scheduled across 4 sessions each day. With more than 500 attendees already registered for the event next week, this world-leading event hosted by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) at the Kia Oval Cricket Ground is a fantastic opportunity for global experts to exchange knowledge and ideas in the field as well as network in the heart of the UK.

Speakers represent world-class organisations and institutions such as Bridgestone (Japan), Pirelli (Italy), Continental (Germany), Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) and the University of Twente (The Netherlands).

Among those speakers are plenary sessions given by Manfred Kluppel, Head of Department Material Concepts and Modelling at Deutsches Institut für Kautshuktechnologie e. V. Germany with his talk on ‘Modelling and Design of Elastomers: From Molecular Mechanisms to Industrial Applications.’

The second day plenary will be given by Professor Judit E. Piskas AIMBE and IUPAC Fellow, Biomaterial and Biopolymer Engineering Program at Ohio State University, USA. Ahead of the conference Piskas said, ‘Being a Rubber City Girl, it is imperative that I come to this conference, listen to the latest research and news and meet experts. In addition, London is a lovely city – lots to see with lots of culture.’

Session themes include filler reinforcement, wear and abrasion, smart and responsive elastomers, fatigue testing and modelling, and rubber adhesion with speakers from across the world including USA, France, China, Malaysia, India and South Korea.

In the lead up to conference, Colin Church, CEO of IOM3, said, ‘The Institute and its predecessors has had a strong link to this conference series since its inception and we are hugely proud to welcome it back to the UK. It provides an excellent opportunity for our members and others in the rubber industry to come together to discuss the latest thinking and to network, Rubber’s place in our society is central, and our members with an interest in the topic are amongst our most passionate! I very much look forward to opening the event next week’

There will be a ‘Press Room’ available onsite for those who would like to use this area for interviews, grab short sound bites or write up any notes with complimentary tea and coffee.
