Dr Bernie Rickinson, IOM3 Chief Executive, has confirmed to Trustees and the principal boards of the Institute his intent to retire from the Institute at the end of 2018. From taking on the role in April 1997, Bernie has developed the organisation to operate in a significantly different way across a much enlarged community than previously.
Commenting on the decision, Rickinson suggested that with an extended notice period and the important 150th anniversary year set for 2019, it was important that a new chief executive took full advantage for community visibility that would arise during the series of anniversary events. ‘It’s business as usual to the year end’, said Rickinson and promised a fuller retrospective in a later Materials World issue. Recruitment consultants have been engaged with the task of finding a sucessor and further information can be obtained from Executive Headhunters via firstname.lastname@example.org
IOM3 would like to sincerely thank Bernie for his outstanding contribution to the Institute and to the engineering community throughout his 20 years of service.
