Invitation to the Major Elements of Sustainable Development via video link
The inaugural Major Elements of Sustainable Development conference is set to take place in St Petersburg, Russia, on 18-19 October.
The two-day conference, which is centred on mineral resource potential for the global economy, is part of a strategic partnership established in 2015 between the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and St Petersburg Mining University.
Although a sizeable party of UK experts and research students have registered for the St Petersburg event, the Institute welcomes delegates to join the oral sessions via video link from a selection of four UK based locations.
Video links have been arranged at the following venues:
- IOM3 London office
- IOM3 Stoke office
- Mine Rescue Service office Mansfield
- Mine Rescue Service office Knottingley
Topics to be covered include resource policies, professional standards, new extraction technologies and prospects of raw mineral resources. This, together with discussion on the trends in the production of energy resources, makes for a full and varied programme.
Screening of the conference will be from 10.30am(GMT) to 4.00pm(GMT) on both days. Audio translation of Russian speakers will be provided where possible.
We encourage members and non-members to take advantage of this video link and drop into any session as time permits.
The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a major UK engineering institution and is the professional body for the advancement of materials, minerals and mining to governments, industry, academia, the public and the professions. For more information visit www.iom3.org
