Starpack showcases new packaging solutions

The Starpack Packaging Industry Innovation Awards scheme is now in its 58th year and is the UK’s premier annual awards scheme recognising innovation in packaging design and technology.
Starpack is open to the whole of the packaging community, from manufacturers, converters, suppliers, processors, packet fillers, brand owners, to end users, packaging designers and marketers.
The 2017 entries for the Starpack Packaging Industry Innovation Awards were exhibited in front of judges at the IOM3 Grantham office on 29 November 2017.
This year’s judging panel consisted of experts from varied packaging and design backgrounds. The panel spent the day weighing in on the each entry’s attention to design, product functionality and packaging innovation, to assess who is taking home the coveted Best in Show and Gold Star awards.
The re-launched Starpack competition showcased grand new pack solutions and several bold contenders for the Green Star Sustainable Award.
2017 welcomed many newcomers to the competition including Atlas Packaging, Elpak, Precipice Design, The PFF Packaging Group, Kinneir Dufort and others from within industry.
David Wiggins, DRW Packaging and Starpack Advisor, said, ‘With the Starpack Awards being a great way of getting talent into the packing business sector, it was encouraging to see new names on the entry forms in 2017.
‘Winners of the 2017 awards will not only be teams that produced the best looking packs, but those that have delivered the best innovation in the packaging industry.’
Shortlisted entries were notified in December. The awards presentation will take place in February 2018.
