On 10 September, the 2015 Starpack Awards took place at the National Space Centre in Leicester.

First up, the schools winners and teachers gathered to listen to speeches by Mike Gilligan, Mercury Search and Selection Ltd on CV preparation and interview techniques, followed by David Wiggins from DRW Packaging who spoke about what the judges are looking for.

Later in the evening, students and industry came together for a cocktail reception and an exhibition of the entries, followed by the Student and Industry Awards ceremony.

The luxurious Cadbury Glow (pictured) won the prestigious Best in Show Award, entered by Mondelez, which showcased the outstanding collaboration of the companies involved, including Pearlfisher, AIR Innovation and Multi Packaging Solutions.

Jenny Taylor-Watson of long-time supporters, DS Smith, noted the potential of Starpack and said, “We think it is really important to encourage new people into the industry. There’s fewer and fewer packaging courses, so trying to get that interest in packaging via other mediums is really important to us. The Starpack Awards are another way of getting the talent into the business”.
