Ian Bowbrick appointed Chairman of the Society for the Environment

The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) President, Tony Juniper has announced the appointment of Ian Bowbrick CEng CEnv FIMMM as its new Chairman at a House of Lords Reception. 

Ian has been working as Director of Professional Development and Membership at the Institute of Minerals, Materials and Mining since September 2013. He said, ‘It is an honour to be elected as Chair of the Society for the Environment, not only for me but also for my discipline of materials, minerals and mining. The Society has a number of new and exciting initiatives that will be launched in the next 12 months and I look forward to taking these forward with our CEnv community.’

Ian has worked with Forum for the Future on its annual Climate Challenge Competition, and has authored research papers on sustainable building design and engineering. As Director of the World Packaging Organisation, he has led discussions on providing innovative and sustainable solutions to real-life pressures, while engaging younger generations in promoting best environmental practice.
