The Starpack Awards are open for entry. In 2014, the Starpack Awards celebrates 55 years of recognising packaging excellence and welcomes the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) as a new category sponsor, with an innovative brief for the student competition.

The brief set by NSC is titled ‘Norwegian Fishcakes Jump Off the Shelves’. The challenge is to create a premium two-pack of chilled fishcakes with a strong sense of the NSC identity that stands out on the shelves. Students must consider the sustainability of the packaging they design.

Jack-Robert Møller, UK Director of the NSC, said: “We have challenged students to design packaging that uses environmentally sustainable materials and is easily resealable to preserve the freshness of the contents if they are not all used at once, whilst of course working within shelf life and ‘use by’ legal restrictions. We are really excited to be involved with the Starpack Awards and looking forward to seeing what innovative packaging designs swim our way.”

The NSC is a marketing organisation created to promote the consumption of seafood sourced from Norway’s cold, clear waters, guaranteeing freshness and premium quality. Norway is a world leader in sustainable fisheries management with the world’s largest growing cod stock, and invests heavily into its fishing industry to ensure fisherman’s lives and jobs are sustainably maintained.
