Video: QR codes made of shadows

There has been a lot of debate about the use of QR codes recently, but a Korean retailer has come up with a novel idea that uses the sun to create a time-sensitive, 3D code to combat lunchtime-lulls in business.

Emart placed 3D sundial-like sculptures across Seoul which, between noon and 1pm only, would cast shadows that formed a QR code – providing customers with an exclusive offer that could only be redeemed during one of the shop's slowest periods.
