Award for engineering in support of military operations

The Churchill Medal Award 2010/11 from The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is open to nominations from an individual or a small team (the majority of whom are, or were at the time, serving
members of the Armed Forces). The award recognises engineering and technical advancement in support of military operations.

The Churchill family is keen that the medal and certificate be reinstated as an
annual award. Sir Winston Churchill approved the title of the medal
at the end of 1946, and it was first awarded eight years later. Reflecting on the
important contribution by engineers of all disciplines to the military needs in
the Second World War, he expressed great enthusiasm for the award. Given this,
it is appropriate to continue its association with the Armed

Nominations for April 2010 – March 2011 should be submitted by 15 September 2011. Managers or Commanding Officers of qualifying
individuals or teams should provide citations of up to 1,000
words. A shortened
version, of approximately 100 words, should also be provided.
