Launch of the British Composites Society
The Composites Division of IOM3 is set to re-launch as the British Composites Society to place IOM3 at the forefront of composites networking. The change in name will raise the profile of the division and encourage greater engagement with the composites community. The group aims to be the voice of composites in the UK.
As part of the re-branding, the Society is holding a launch event where members will be able to consult with the board regarding their expectations and requirements of the group. The event seeks to involve members in the future of the society, providing an opportunity to shape its activities so that they better reflect the needs of the sector. The launch, which is free to attend, will take place at 1 Carlton House Terrace, London, on 30 October.
The Society under its former guise organised meetings for members – international conferences as well as shorter workshops. The programme of events will continue and expand, ICCM in Edinburgh in 2009 is just one example. New ideas are welcomed on initiatives that the Society should be taking, and on collaborative projects with the National Composites Network and Composites UK. Support for professional development for junior to senior practitioners is a priority area and the group is open to suggestions from individuals and their employers.
