Construction Phase Supervision for Geotechnical Works

16 Apr 2018

Western Institute of Mining & Minerals Lecture

Athena Livesey - Parsons Brinckerhoff

The presentation covers the role of the geotechnical engineer with special reference to construction phase site supervision. Supervision is heavily involved in the running of a typical construction project and in particular the design is properly implemented. The level and nature of supervision required should be determined as an outcome of the client's management arrangements for the project and from the risk assessments carried out by contractors and others. It is not efficient to stipulate that 'supervision will be provided' without specifying which element of the works it is related to and the detail of that provision.

The presentation will consider the role and responsibilities of the Construction Phase Team, the competence and qualifications of the individual and touch on some legal aspects.
