Technician Member (TIMMM)

The Technician Member grade (TIMMM) is recognition from the Institute of an individual's professional ability to apply proven techniques and procedures to the solution of problems in the field of materials and natural resources in one or more of the following: exploration, extraction, processing, forming, selection, application, development, research, manufacturing, reuse, repurposing and recycling.

Suitable applicants for this grade:

  • hold the minimum of a RQF Level 2/SCQF Level 5 qualification such as an OND or equivalent qualification, in a relevant engineering, science, technology or environmental subject
  • have at least 2 years relevant working experience

Individuals looking to attain either the Associate or Professional Member grade (AIMMM/MIMMM) in the fullness of time, are welcome to apply for TIMMM as an interim level of recognition.

How to apply for Technician membership

In the first instance you will need to submit the following documents, and we will then take you through the application process.

  • a copy of your CV/resume.
  • a copy of your degree/qualification(s) certificates, unless these have previously been submitted to the Institute.

Application for Professional Registration

Those looking to apply for professional registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Registered Science Technician (RSciTech), must hold the membership grade of TIMMM or AIMMM, MIMMM or FIMMM at the time of application.
