James Latham Limited
Established in 1757, James Latham has been importing and distributing timber and wood-based panel products to the UK for more than two and a half centuries.
The business has developed into an industry leader in panel products, hardwood, joinery-quality softwood, performance doors, solid surface, cladding and decking and now offers probably the most comprehensive and varied product range available in the market.
Latham’s wide-ranging portfolio includes some of the most recognised brands in the world, many of them on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, all from a single source and available nationwide, thanks to its 10-strong network of depots.
Following the success of its first Product Specification Showroom which opened in central London, the business opened the doors to its second showroom which is located in Manchester.
Showcasing an extensive range of decorative panel and timber materials, these impressive, inspiration-led facilities reflect a changing market landscape for James Latham and cater not only for the rapidly growing number of architects and designers within its customer base but also the increase in specification contracts from both the commercial and residential sectors. The showrooms also offer a space to suppliers and customers for networking events, product presentations and launches, training and CPD seminars.
In 2018, James Latham opened its second, purpose-built, 55,000 ft2 depot in 12 months, this time in Leicester. Capacity at both this, and the Bristol site which opened in July 2017, has increased by 35 percent, reflecting the growing portfolio and diversity of James Latham’s offering as well as an increase in ex-stock products..
James Latham’s commitment to environmental best practice is paramount and remains at the core of its business strategy. The company will only source materials from suppliers who are operating within the laws of their own country and with growing public awareness of environmental issues and many customers specifically requesting certified timber, it has made positive moves towards stocking products exclusively originating from sustainable and correctly managed forests, in particular Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC®) certified products.
The company is also a member and supporter of the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) and was the first signatory to the TTF’s Responsible Purchasing Policy. All James Latham’s depots are FSC® and PEFC® certified.
(The timbers for the IOM3 "The Mine" were supplied by James Latham, as was the 5th floor exterior decking.)
