Polymer Study Tours
The Bringing the Curriculum to Life
Free 2 day Residential CPD Course – held annually in the North West
The Manchester Polymer Group will be supporting the 2020 Polymer Studies Tour. Details will be published soon.
In 2019 Victrex based in Thornton Cleveleys in Lancashire was one of three venues across the UK who played host to Science and Design & Technology students and experienced teachers who attended the 2 day residential course known as The Polymer Study Tour in 2019.
Overall, the aim of the course is to provide sources of material, relevant to the National Curriculum, whilst allowing delegates the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of plastics and rubber technology. This is achieved through a mixture of lectures, discussions, practical laboratory sessions and industrial visits where modern plastics processing can be observed at work first hand. The course leaders and lecturers are a mixture of leading academics and industry professionals. The course also allows teachers to meet in an informal environment to exchange views on this cross curricula subject.
This residential course is entirely FREE to teachers once they arrive at the venue due to the generous sponsorship of the Horners' Educational Trust, companies in the polymer industry, and organisations such as the Manchester Polymer Group involved in supporting education. All meals, refreshments, overnight accommodation and transfers to and from the hotel for those using public transport are included and all delegates are eligible to apply for a contribution of up to £250 towards the cost of travel or cover.
Each delegate will receive a Certificate of Attendance to enhance their CPD portfolio.
The other venues for the Polymer Study Tours in 2019 were Edinburgh Napier University and WHS Plastics.
