London Materials Society community activities
The London Materials Society would like to liaise with London schools to organise the annual Schools Event within London. The event is aimed at school children from the age of 14 years and upwards, and is designed to allow teachers and school children to cover aspects of the science/technology school curriculum, and to interact with materials experts. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to start brainstorming for cost effective ideas!
LMS hosts the London regional heats for the Young Persons’ Lecture Competition (YPLC), which showcases participant’s skills giving a 15-minute presentation, followed by questions from the judges.
The June Wilson award is an endowment from the late Prof. Hench (1938-2015) in commemoration of his late wife’s achievements in the field of materials research. The prize, valued at £750, will be awarded to a female scientist up to the age of 30 working in research in the Greater London area, who has demonstrated excellence in any relevant area of materials science and engineering.
