Role:

We currently have an opportunity for a Principal or Senior Metallurgist to join an experienced mining team based in central Cardiff. This opportunity will involve working on a diverse range of exciting projects with multi-disciplinary teams both in the UK and overseas. The role will include international travel.

Job Description: 

As a Principal or Senior Metallurgist the primary role is to provide competent consulting services to support SRK projects and clients. The role involves:

  • Working as part of multi-disciplinary SRK teams providing input on world-class project development studies.
  • Representing SRK to clients and interfacing at all levels with the client’s management and operations (and those of their other consultants).
  • Acting as project manager on projects involving other SRK specialists and sub-consultants.
  • Business development, including the generation of business from new and existing clients.
  • Undertaking technical due diligence, competent persons report and plant optimization studies.
  • Preparation of feasibility studies, including providing process support to other engineering disciplines and undertaking process development and design studies for a range of commodities.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in Process Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Chartered Engineer Status and a member of appropriate professional institute.
  • Operational and technical knowledge of mineral processing operations including gold processing, base metal concentration and hydrometallurgical processes.
  • Experience in flow-sheet development, laboratory and pilot scale testwork and design.
  • Preparation of feasibility studies.
  • Engineering design experience and development of capital costs.
  • Proficient in using and applying specialist software: e.g. LIMN, HSC Chemistry and MetSim.
  • Excellent report and proposal writing skills requiring strong English language skills (verbal and written).
