EDF Energy, part of the EDF Group, is the UK’s leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation’s electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants.

We are seeking a versatile materials engineer with the ability to work on a range of polymeric materials, sealing systems, coatings, oils and lubricants. As a member of the Materials Group within Nuclear Generation’s central engineering facilities, you will be expected to take a lead role in the specification, investigation and performance evaluation of such materials for our operational nuclear power stations.

You must have a degree in Materials Science / Chemistry (or related subjects with an emphasis on relevant non-metallic materials) and in-depth technical experience in at least two of the following fields: polymeric materials, sealing systems, coatings, oils and lubricants. You will be experienced in solving materials-related problems in an operational or production-focussed industrial environment and able to make risk-informed judgements taking into account safety and commercial factors. You will also possess excellent communication and teamwork skills coupled with a proactive and flexible approach to achieving results.
