We’ve been involved in projects as interesting and diverse as the Forth Bridge, Thames Barrier, Channel Tunnel, Canary Wharf, British Museum, Canterbury Cathedral, Dubai Metro and the Smithsonian Museum.

We are seeking a Manager to lead and develop our well-established Construction Materials Department, based at our laboratories in Clapham, London. This is a high level position reporting directly to the Managing Partner for the firm.

You will be an expert in construction materials testing, with significant previous experience of similar activities. Report writing skills and a practical nature are essential, as is the ability to handle many live projects at once. Strong English language skills are important, both written and verbal.

The role involves advising on and testing various construction materials including concretes, aggregates, renders, mortars, stone, brick, screeds and flooring materials (including slip resistance testing). The department undertakes testing both on site, in the lab and additionally taking samples for later testing. You will be responsible for managing the six staff in the department, as well as budgeting and strategic planning. The role involves all aspects of project management from responding to enquiries and pricing, to drafting the reports.
