IOM3 has a network of Affiliated Local Societies across the UK. These are independent organisations which run their own programmes of events and activities, but by affiliation with IOM3 receive funding and support. The Local Affairs Committee is responsible for communications between the Institute and its Affiliated Societies. It is also heavily involved with the IOM3 Young Persons’ Lecture Competition.

Further information can be found in the Institute’s Committee Terms of Reference Document at https://www.iom3.org/about-us/governance/annual-report-corporate-documents.html. The LAC meets 3 times per year.

The successful candidate will be a member in good standing of IOM3 with a strong interest in promoting relations with local societies. Experience of involvement as an active member of a local society and leading a group of volunteers is desirable. The specific technical background of the candidate can be from any of the disciplines covered by IOM3.

Nomination is by submission of:

  • a CV
  • a statement of what you propose to do as Chair of the Local Affairs Committee, including what you plan to do to support equality, diversity, and inclusion in this role.

These should reach Anita Horton [email protected] by 0800 on 2 October 2023.

Don’t meet every requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At IOM3 we are building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.
