IOM3 Trustee and Chair of IOM3 International Affairs Committee
The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining
- Contract type
- Closing date
- 29 Nov 2021
The Chair of the IAC is one of the Trustees of IOM3, and sits, along with around a dozen others, on the Executive Board.
The IAC is responsible for communications between the Institute and its international communities. It also encourages the development of new activities and communities outside the UK. The Committee is currently being relaunched to help develop and deliver the Institute’s international strategy, and appointing its Chair is a key early step. It is likely that the role will involve some foreign travel to promote IOM3 and engage with members based around the world.
Further information on the Committee can be found in the Institute’s Committee Terms of Reference Document below. The IAC will transact as much of its business as possible virtually.
Nominees must be voting (corporate) members of the Institute in good standing, with a track record of engagement with IOM3, a demonstrable commitment to support its members with a particular focus on international action, and a strong passion for the Institute’s charitable purpose. The successful applicant will also be able to show a track record of leading groups of volunteers. We are open to nominations from candidates with a background in any of the many different activities and sectors of the Institute’s members. We are also particularly keen to improve the diversity of our volunteer cadre.
Nomination is by submission of:
- a CV
- a statement of what you propose to do as Chair of the International Affairs Committee, including what you plan to do to support members and to improve equality, diversity, and inclusion in this role
- a signed ‘fit and proper purpose’ declaration, confirming your eligibility to be a Trustee (see https://www.gov.uk/guidance/trustee-board-people-and-skills#check-prospective-trustees-are-eligible)
- A supporting statement from another voting (corporate) member of IOM3
These should reach Anita Horton by 0800 on 29 November 2021. Please also contact Anita if you would like to arrange an informal discussion about the role with the CEO or President.
