Ventilator consortium ends
VentilatorChallengeUK is ending after making more than 13,000 devices. The British consortium consisted of aerospace, automotive and engineering firms working to build ventilators for the UK’s National Health Service (NHS).
Scientific modelling at the start of the coronavirus crisis predicted that the NHS was going to run out of ventilators, so the Government launched the Ventilator Challenge with a call to step up production of existing designs and design new machines. Several IOM3 members were involved in the challenge.
