  • IOM3 HK - Technical Visit to Dextra Guangzhou Factory

    The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) Hong Kong Branch and The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Material Division jointly organised a one-day technical visit to Dextra's Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Factory in Guangzhou, China on 6 July 2019. Dextra Guangzhou Factory manufactures high-tensile composite glass-fibre and carbon-fibre based FRP bars and profile. Dextra supplies these FRP products to the construction projects around the globe, including projects in the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore etc.

  • Hong Kong Council member elected to IOM3 Governing Body

    The IOM3 is a body incorporated by Royal Charter and is a registered UK Charity. Following changes in the IOM3 governance structure approved in August 2019, it is managed by an Executive Board that consists of the Trustees of the Institute. The Board is supported by an Advisory Council, which will advise the Executive Board on major strategic decisions and strategic planning and with other duties set out from time to time.

    This year again, IOM3(HK) are very pleased by the response of the industry. Four finalists presented by the young Hong Kong scientists and engineers to take part in the final of the Young Persons’ Lecture Competition 2019 (Hong Kong Heat) on 19 June 2019. This year’s winner went to Mr. Franklin To. Franklin is a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIMMM MICE) and is currently working at AECOM.
