SUMMARY:Prof. Mark Jolly – Transforming the Materials Agenda for a Sustainable Planet: Opportunities & Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome to join this joint event with the University of Cambridge's Matsoc!\n
 \n
Prof. Mark Jolly is on the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) National Engineering Policy Centre (NEPC) working group on Materials for Net-Zero. He spent 13 years in industry at tier 1&2 suppliers, including work with Rolls-Royce, Johnson & Johnson, and BAE Systems, before moving into academia in 1995, where he has managed over £22m worth of research projects.\n
 \n
He will give us an overview of the path towards a more sustainble, circular materials economy.\n
 \n
"Our current way of making and using most materials follows a linear model: take, make, and dispose. To secure a sustainable future, we must transition to a circular materials world, where we minimise the extraction of raw materials and maximise the reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling of existing materials. Achieving this transformation requires innovations in mindsets, technologies, business models, and systems."
