SUMMARY:Carbon capture and utilisation via algae to create a sustainable circular economy
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next SWMA talk on Carbon capture and utilisation via algae to create a sustainable circular economy by Professor Darren Oatley-Radcliffe from ESRI research centre at Swansea University on Tuesday 16th April from 6:15pm at Swansea University Bay Campus and online. All are welcome. There will be the usual free food and drinks served before the talk begins at 6:30pm. To sign up, please use this link: https://forms.gle/ZEjgj7r11ozw3n526 Talk Summary: Most people are familiar with the race to net zero that involves CO2 capture and storage activities to prevent global warming beyond the 1.5 &deg;C pre-industrial levels. However, human activity also produces nitrogen and phosphorus waste as well. Algae are natures natural pollution control agents and are capable of recycling C, N, and P to form nutritional and healthcare products, thus forming a sustainable circular economy. This talk will outline the current state-of-the-art in algal production, including abatement of CO2 from the Vale Europe Ltd nickel refinery in Clydach.<br />\n
