Younger Members' Committee: Chairman's Address

31 Jan 2013

Welcome to 2013, on behalf of the Younger Members' Committee. As the new Chair, I would like to share my vision for the YMC and tell you about some of the events coming up this year.

Members are the greatest asset to IOM3 and my vision for the YMC is to provide more opportunities for younger members to become involved in the Institute, either as Ambassadors of Technical Divisions or by taking part in YMC events. Our aim is to help you build your professional network and to support your professional development, whatever your background or experience.

The YMC has got a number of events planned for 2013, so why not come along to meet the other young engineers and share experiences?

27 April - Matopoly

Test your materials knowledge around London in this life-sized board game - details of last year's event can be found here.

20 September - Research and Innovation Conference including Boost Your Career in Science and Engineering

details of the last event can be found here.

Young Persons' Lecture Competition

Local Heats are now taking place.

Starpack Awards

I've heard Materials Science and Engineering described as 'the best subject you've never heard of'. If you're passionate about promoting the subject and encouraging the next generation of young engineers, why not get involved with the IOM3 Schools Affiliate Scheme? It'll look great on your CV.

We're here as the voice of younger members, so if you have any comments or suggestions, get in touch via the Committee's website.

You can also find the Institute on Facebook, Twiiter and on the Institute's group on LinkedIn. I hope to see you at one of the 2013 YMC events.
