Postponed - Shaping the Future of Environmental Protection: Environment Bill governance arrangements in Northern Ireland
The Environmental Policy Forum of which IOM3 is a member invite you to help shape the future of environmental protection in Northern Ireland.
Join this influential group to help shape how the future governance arrangements set out in the Environment Bill could be implemented to best effect in Northern Ireland.
Following an opening plenary with perspectives on environmental governance, we invite you to participate in a co-creation workshop, alongside fellow senior experts from a range of professional disciplines.
The workshop is an important opportunity to work within a collaborative environment to understand the governance mechanisms in the Environment Bill and inform how best to ensure that:
- NI Environmental Improvement Plans would provide a coherent set of policies and proposals which give businesses and communities clarity on priorities so they can make a full contribution to significantly improving the natural environment
- An NI Policy Statement on Environmental Principles would contribute to genuine improvements in environmental protection and sustainable development
- The new Office for Environmental Protection can play an effective role in monitoring progress, advising on changes in environmental law, and holding public authorities to account in Northern Ireland
- Ireland’s unique cross-border challenges (e.g. waste crime, invasive species) are addressed and the need for cross-border co-operation is recognised and supported.
