IOM3 is pleased to have appointed Margaret Copland, CEng, CSci, FIMMM Senior Wells & Technology Manager at the Oil and Gas Authority and a board member of the Oil and Gas Division as the Vice Chair of the IOM3 Technology Communities Board.
The UK government has recently set out two ambitious and long-term strategic objectives, namely the 25-year environmental action plan and a commitment for the UK to be zero net carbon by 2050. This conference critically examines these two challenges, with an emphasis on rigorous systems thinking and numerical estimates.
On 12 November, IOM3 held its first Technology Communities Board Annual Forum in London. The aim of the forum was to introduce technical communities and divisional chairs to the Strategic Advisors and for the various IOM3 divisions to share best practices, challenges and to help shape the Institute’s events calendar going forward.
Following the success of the IOM3 Advisory Council elections and having confirmed 15 vacancies representing IOM3 Grades and Regions, the first meeting took place on 5 November to celebrate and officially welcome the new governance structure.

The Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS) held its Election of Managing Committee members and recently voted in favour of Professor Eric le Bourhis and Dr Anna Zervaki in the positions of FEMS President and Vice-President retrospectively from January 2020.
