Miss Kay Jervis
Kay is currently on the Morgan Advanced Materials Graduate Leadership Programme, with her current placement at the Stourport site as a Technology Analyst in the Centre of Excellence. This role is within the Research and Development department working with intellectual property and scientific literature in the planning stages of projects as well as working to collect, analyse and present data for Morgan specific research projects.
In 2016 she graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class masters (MEng) degree in Materials Science and Engineering with Industrial experience. As parts of this, she completed a 12 month industrial placement at Morgan Advanced Materials as a Materials Engineer, working in the technical department to improve business continuity, troubleshoot for production and implement Gross Margin Improvements in production. This was where she realised that ceramics was the specialty that she wished to pursue, whereby she chose her masters project on improving the thermoelectric properties of ceramics, which won the Morgan Advanced Ceramics prize for the best 4th year project.
She then went on to be awarded the Armourers and Brasiers Morgan Advanced Materials prize for the best undergraduate project in the school of materials at the University of Manchester; leading to an invitation to become an alumni of the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers.
This led to her nomination for the IOM3 A T Green award, which she went on to win, awarded to the best graduate with excellence in ceramics; which is where she first became aware of the YMC and wanted to become involved.
In her spare time she enjoys playing netball, running and travelling.
